Adult literacy education

Having survived the collapse and successfully given birth to their children, these young mothers are largely unable to return to work in large factories due to the trauma and anxiety they still experience. Therefore education and training is vital for these women to be able to rebuild their lives and improve their chances in the workforce.

Most of the women working in the Rana Plaza complex never received any formal schooling and are unable to or find it very difficult to read or write. As part of the programme particpants have classes 3 times a week. Over a period of 9 months, the ultimate goal is for the women to be able to fluently read and write, facilitating their daily lives and enabling the possibility of further vocational training.
